Overview

DeCarbCH addresses the significant challenge of decarbonizing the heating and cooling sectors in Switzerland while laying the groundwork for achieving negative CO2 emissions. The project's overarching objective, aligned with the ultimate goal of achieving net-zero emissions, is to facilitate, accelerate, and mitigate risks associated with the deployment of renewable energy solutions across the residential, service, and industrial sectors.

Within DeCarbCH, HSLU's research team on thermal networks contributes to the development of novel network archetypes and control strategies to ensure the optimal and robust operation of sustainable district heating and cooling networks. This work combines physical dynamic simulations using Modelica with data-driven methods to address these challenges effectively.
