Overview
This seed money project aims to develop a research proposal on the pathways to becoming a tourism micropreneur in the informal sector of a developing country, Vietnam. It also investigates their impacts on livelihoods, empowerment, social inclusion, health, and sustainable tourism development.
We focus on tourist boat microenterprises in Huế City. Tourist boats are primarily owned by families who usually live on the boats, do not own land, and lead a semi-nomadic lifestyle. Their way of life and activities are seen by tourists as an attraction. However, these microenterprises are among the under-resourced tourism stakeholders in the tourism value chain.
