Overview
ProColombia is the Colombian national agency for the promotion of non-mining-energy exports, foreign direct investment, international tourism and country branding.
It facilitates the promotion of tourism in international markets, with sustainable and regenerative tourism as a priority. The goal is to promote Colombia as the #1 destination for sustainability in the region, taking into account the relevance of Colombia in the sector.
The aim of the mandate of the Institute of Tourism and Mobility at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) was to support ProColombia in the development, strengthening and international promotion of Colombia as a sustainable tourism destination.
By leveraging the expertise and resources of both institutions, the aim of the project was to jointly develop and implement initiatives that promote environmentally sustainable practices, increase the country's attractiveness as a sustainable destination and have a positive impact on local communities and the environment. Among other things, a draft roadmap with action plans for the development and promotion of sustainable tourism in Colombia for an international audience was developed.
