Overview

The climate change predictions and the energy transition goals of the Federal Council of Switzerland make "efficient building cooling" highly topical. For instance the discussion following the publication of the results of the ClimaBau project highlighted the need for residential cooling concepts in 2060. In addition to climate change, factors such as highly-densified building, aging population, heat island effect in cities, etc., add to the significance of the subject. The aim of the "Future cooling solutions" task is to expand the competencies of SCCER FEEBD in the area of "Cooling of buildings and areas in consideration of the Energy Strategy 2050" through cooperation between research institutes.
