Solar facades with daylight re-direction and coloured photovoltaics

The competence center “Building Envelopes” of the Institute for Civil Engineering of HSLU contributes to the development and assessment of innovative architectural building technologies.

Completed

Period:

01.01.2017 - 31.12.2020

Overview

Fenestration systems that bend daylight glare free and deep into the building are being developed at EPFL. Their optical and thermal performance is measured at HSLU using the Goniophotometer Laboratory to characterize their spectrally selective reflection and transmission. New coloured photovoltaic modules are being developed at HSLU and demonstrated at EMPA’s Nest building. This includes on-site comparison of electrical and architectural performance of different types and colours of PV modules.
