Transferable and Methodological Skills  to advance academic careers

A successful research career requires the underpinning of specialist knowledge with core skills such as academic writing and presentation skills and a deep understanding of methods and research tools. Doctoral students, research assistants and lecturers at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts have the possibility to attend events and take courses that aim to sharpen both their methodological and transferable skills.

Courses

The Campus Luzern offers qualification courses in the areas of interdisciplinary skills and research methods to the doctoral students and researchers of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU), the University of Teacher Education Lucerne (PH Luzern) and the University of Lucerne. Campus Luzern is a collaborative project of the three Lucerne-based universities and supported by swissuniversities until December 2024.

Mentoring Programme

The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts encourages the personal and career development of its junior and senior researchers. To this end, it has developed a mentoring programme that supports researchers (mentees) in advancing their professional and/or developmental goals through the support of a more experienced researcher (mentor).

Events

Meet-up events and keynote lectures promote networking and academic interaction within the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and with the scientific community at large. The yearly writing retreat (expected launch in Summer 2022) is designed for researchers wishing to advance their academic writing in an environment where they can enjoy an informal exchange of ideas with their peers.

The activities described above are coordinated by the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Research ZLLF (Zentrum für Lernen, Lehren und Forschen).
