Mentoring CLuG+

In order to provide our participants with the best possible support, we rely on mentors. As a mentor – a regular student or employee of one of the three universities – you will meet with your mentee weekly during the semester to support them with everyday challenges and, above all, to speak German together. We would also be delighted if you could take part in the additional events organised by Lucerne Campus for Refugees. Mentors will be introduced to mentoring by Annina Friz, lecturer at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Social Work.

As proficiency in German is a key aspect of mentoring, our mentors should have a minimum German language level of C1 (for mentors on the taster course) or C2 (for mentors on the pre-study integration programme).   

ECTS credits for mentoring

Depending on which degree programme you are enrolled in, and at which university, you may be able to earn ECTS credits for your mentoring activities. Below you will find an overview of the various options. 

Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts

• Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture: You can earn 3 ECTS credits as part of the ‘Social Project’ module. Further information can be found on MyCampus (see here). To register, you must follow three steps: 1. Register here 2. Register for the ‘Social Project’ module as part of the module registration process 3. Submit an application to the programme director (in parallel with the module registration) 
• Lucerne School of Business: BSc International Business Administration: Pilot project ‘Intercultural Mentoring’ for three participants: 2 ECTS credits as part of the ‘International Experience’ module in combination with the ‘Intercultural and English Competence Course’ module (3 ECTS credits). • Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology: Mentors can have 3 ECTS credits recognised as part of the ‘Buddy module’. You can find more information here. • Lucerne School of Social Work: BSc Social Work: 3 ECTS as part of Module 9, Practical Placement. For more information, please contact Annina Friz.

University of Lucerne

• Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences: 1-2 ECTS (25–30 hours of work per credit, see here) for social skills (free study credits)
