Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions. 

  • When is the registration window for the taster/pre-study integration programme open?
    The regular registration window is usually open from mid-January to the end of April.
  • How do I register for the taster/pre-study integration programme?
    Fill out the application form and upload the required documents (see section "Registration and procedure" under taster/pre-study integration programme).
  • How long does the taster/pre-study integration programme last?
    The taster/pre-study integration programme begins in September and ends in June. It therefore lasts two semesters. In exceptional cases, the taster programme can also be attended for just one semester. Please contact us for more information.
  • I have no relevant work experience, or I am not sure whether my work experience is sufficient for admission to the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Can I still apply?
    In certain cases, proof of relevant work experience can also be provided after the taster/pre-study integration programme, but at the latest before admission to a regular study programme.
  • How much time is required for the taster programme?
    The time required for the taster programme depends on your requirements. To gain a good insight into studying at a Swiss university, we recommend that you take advantage of at least the following programme: German course B2 and German course B2 exam preparation (6 lessons per week plus individual preparation and follow-up work), 2-3 modules as a guest student (4-6 lessons per week plus individual preparation and follow-up work), mentoring (1 hour per week).
  • How much time is required for the pre-study integration programme?
    The time required for the pre-study integration programme is equivalent to full-time study, as a lot of time must be spent preparing for, and following up on, the various lessons. Below you will find a sample overview:

  • What documents are required to register for the taster/ pre-study integration programme?
    You will need the following: residence permit, passport (if available), university entrance qualification or university certificate, German B1 certificate (taster programme) or German B2 certificate (pre-study integration programme), CV, letter of motivation, declaration of consent from your case-management office/social counselling centre (if available).
  • Can you earn ECTS credits during the taster/ pre-study integration programme?
    No, because participants in the taster/ pre-study integration programme attend modules as guest or specialist auditors, they are not officially enrolled and cannot earn ECTS credits. 
  • Can you take exams during the taster/ pre-study integration programme?
    No, as participants in the taster/ pre-study integration programme are not officially enrolled, they cannot take examinations.
