Campus Luzern Bahnhof Next stop: The Future

In February 2026, the Lucerne Schools of Social Work and Business will start their first semester at the new “Luzern Bahnhof Campus”. It is an emerging space for exchanges, innovation, learning and research. Discover what the new campus has to offer.

The new Luzern Bahnhof Campus

The Luzern Bahnhof Campus consists of the existing HSLU building at Zentralstrasse 9 and the new “Perron” building in the Rösslimatt development on the opposite side of Lucerne railway station. The Perron is currently in the final stages of interior finishing. Around new year’s, HSLU employees will move into their new offices in the new building. From the start of the 2026 spring semester—that is, in mid-February—the Luzern Bahnhof Campus will be open to students, participants in continuing education programmes and visitors, completing the merger of the HSLU’s varied offerings in the disciplines of Business, Social Work and Health on one campus.

Treat yourself to a breathtaking view of the City of Lucerne and Mount Pilatus, be it from the roof of Zentralstrasse 9 or from the balconies that wrap around the Perron on each floor.

Open events and room rental 

Many of the events that are set to take place the Luzern Bahnhof Campus will be open to the public. Members of the public may also rent venues on campus that are not otherwise used by the university. 

Upcoming milestones 

  • Around new year’s 2025/2026: The employees of the Schools of Social Work and Business move into the Perron building (with the exception of the Institute of Financial Services IFZ, which will keep its offices on the Zug-Rotkreuz Campus)  
  • February 2026: Start of the first semester on the new Luzern Bahnhof Campus
  • 20 June 2026: Open day for the public on the Luzern Bahnhof Campus 

Why we needed a new campus 

  • The HSLU is the largest educational and research institution in Central Switzerland. Its state-of-the-art infrastructure and the central location of its campuses make it attractive for students, participants in continuing education programmes and employees alike. This modern campus is extremely important for the HSLU: it ensures the university’s ability to train tomorrow’s specialists, to conduct research and to create value for society and for the six contributing cantons for years to come. 
  • The HSLU is growing. To make sure its programmes and courses remain accessible to all, it needs space for classrooms, workplaces and teaching and learning spaces. There simply isn’t enough space at the HSLU’s existing facilities. 
  • Space for interdisciplinary collaboration: The new building boasts even more open spaces and structures for exchanges, innovation and collaboration between disciplines and with business and society, all designed in line with the latest trends in education and research.
