The event provided a detailed overview of the technical developments and wide range of uses of these powerful analytical tools. Once again, it became very clear: Business analytics and data science are no longer merely an ancillary field that supports individual functional units, such as a marketing department. Instead, they are having an increasingly powerful effect on companies' business and organisational models and are fundamentally reshaping the way we do business.
Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts is set to intensify its collaboration with the SAS Institute and other partners. This primarily involves establishing the X-Lab so that students and researchers can work with big data easily and learn more about the behaviour of individuals, groups and communities. The SAS Forum 2016 has also produced an important finding: Analytics technologies are becoming not only increasingly ingenious but more and more userfriendly. In other words, business analytics is no longer a secret science practiced by a select group of experts but something that also non-statisticians can use successfully.
