Swiss-European Mobility Programme formerly Erasmus+

The Swiss-European Mobility Programme (formerly Erasmus+) provides students, lecturers and staff of the Lucerne School of Music with a framework for exchange with music colleges in Europe.

Due to the results of the federal vote on February 9, 2014, the negotiations between Switzerland and the EU regarding the participation in the Erasmus+ programme have been suspended. To ensure the continuity of mobility activities with the Erasmus+ programme countries, the Swiss government decided to develop an interim solution for Erasmus+ supported by Swiss funding. The Interim Solution Erasmus+ for Higher Education is called Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP) and follows the precepts of Erasmus+.

This means that the Swiss government provides the funding for incoming and outgoing students (lecturers and staff) to pay maintenance grants. Also, exchange students don’t have to pay the tuition fee at the Hochschule Luzern – Musik. They keep paying the fee at their school.

Exchange programme for students and lecturers of the Lucerne School of Music («OUTGOINGS»)

Exchanges for students, lecturers and staff are organised by the  Exchange Coordinators at the relevant School. Those interested in an exchange are responsible for informing themselves about the opportunities on offer and the registration deadlines of the partner institutions (e.g. via websites) They are also responsible for contacting teaching staff in the partner institutions, if necessary. However, when it comes to planning a specific exchange the Exchange Coordinator of the Lucerne School of Music must be consulted. Written information will be provided during the consultations.

Note for students from abroad («INCOMINGS»)

Students from abroad wishing to spend one or two exchange semesters at the Lucerne School of Music will find useful information here:

Application deadline

Application deadline for autumn and spring term is on March 15th. In order to announce results of election until beginning of June we need all applications on time.

Language

Students and teachers may mutually agree on the language they will use in one-to-one lessons. The language of instruction in group courses is German in principle, but it is possible to receive advice and guidance in English. Also exchange students can easily join in band workshops and ensembles/orchestra.  For attending courses in music theory, music history or other courses where oral explanations are essential, good German knowledge is expected.

Academic year

The academic year starts in September and ends in June. It is divided into two terms, autumn semester and spring semester. Compulsory events for incoming students as well as regular courses might start and end slightly before and after times of semesters.
For detailed information see academic dates.
