It continues to act as a resource centre for teaching training. At the School, the teaching diploma for baccalaureate schools (required to practice as a teacher) is taken at the same time as master's major in School Music II. Students are able to put what they learn into practice throughout their studies, which provides them with a well-rounded preparation for their future careers.
Admission to the major in School Music II is conditional on having a bachelor's degree from a music college. A Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Lucerne School of Music with a focus on Choir Conducting represents an ideal study track for students aspiring to teach music in schools. This programme teaches a significant amount of content in practical school piano playing, singing/vocal technique and ensemble conducting, which the students can later build on with a master's degree and teaching diploma.
This qualification enables graduates to teach music in baccalaureate schools. It is offered in cooperation with the University of Teacher Education Lucerne. This approach provides an education that is optimally tuned both at a musical level and in terms of its teaching and learning content. The programme features tuition in the main musical subject as well as conducting and incorporates teaching practice from as early as the first semester. It also includes numerous subjects in educational science, pedagogical psychology, specialised teaching and learning methods, and music theory and history modules. As a result, graduates undergo an excellent preparation for their new careers at baccalaureate schools.
