Enjoying national and international links, the School maintains collaborative relationships with various jazz festivals in Switzerland and other well-known institutions. The School also has its own live music venue – the Jazzkantine, which acts as a platform for the musical activities of the Institute. The School's own
big band directed by Ed Partyka presents a wide repertoire of classics from traditional big band to contemporary material.
The School's very own
internet radio station plays 90% Swiss jazz music from bands and ensembles in which lecturers at the Institute of Jazz are involved.
The Master of Arts in Music Major Jazz Performance incorporates components required for a professional career as a jazz performer and prepares students for a life of creativity in all its various forms. During their studies students can choose from a variety of specialisations that help them express their own artistic vision and strengthen their musical individuality. The Master of Arts in
Music Pedagogy is aimed at those who later wish to teach music.
