Elective Conducting/School Music

What to expect

In the elective Conducting/School Music, suitably qualified students complete the «generalising» Bachelor of Arts in Music degree programme.

However, in addition to the (slightly reduced) tuition in the instrumental/vocal main subject, students receive group tuition in ensemble conducting and take the conducting seminar. With the successful completion of the Bachelor's programme, all Master's programmes are open to them, and they are particularly well prepared to begin a Master's programme in choral conducting; furthermore, the choice of the specialisation is particularly recommended to all students who wish to pursue a Master's programme in School Music II (teaching qualification for Matura schools for the subject of music).
