Mandatory second semester abroad

The second mandatory semester abroad takes place in semester six, typically the spring. Students are free to choose the country destination as well as the university. During this second and final semester abroad, students are also free to choose their own subjects, to include subjects related to their major as well as a selection of freely-chosen electives if they so wish. Students are required to choose a minimum of 18 ECTS, ensuring that the total number of 24 ECTS in their major is fulfilled. Moreover, students work on their bachelor thesis while abroad.

Timeline for application
  • 15th January: application deadline for the first mandatory semester abroad - namely the following fall
  • 15th August: application deadline for the second mandatory semester abroad - namely the following spring

Visa

It is each student's responsibility to obtain any necessary student visas, entry visas or visitors visas for their mandatory semester abroad in their country of choice. Different countries have different processes and the length of time it can take to obtain visas can vary considerably, also based on the student's country of origin or which passport they hold. The host university usually supplies the required documentation in support of any visa requirements.

Cancellation Policy

If a student decides to withdraw or cancel their semester abroad, all costs incurred are to be covered fully by the student.
