Workshops and guest talks Offerings for vocational and baccalaureate schools

The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts HSLU offers workshops for vocational and baccalaureate schools in robotics and AI as well as app development. Some of the HSLU’s experts are also available for guest talks.

We are continually expanding our range of workshops and guest talks. Find a comprehensive list of offerings below. For queries and bookings, please send us an e-mail.

Student überprüft bei Pepper, ob die eigene Programmierung funktioniert hat.

Learn to program humanoid robots

This practice workshop conveys basic information about humanoid robots. Working with the “Pepper” robot, the students learn about robot sensors and actors and to program simple behavior patterns for robots through a graphic and highly intuitive development environment. The Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology supplies several robots for the workshop, allowing for several teams of students to develop and test creative robot applications at the same time.

Handy mit Logo MIT App Inventor

Learn to program apps with the MIT App Inventor

The MIT App Inventor is a great way to start programming and developing interesting apps—no prior programming skills required. Students playfully learn about the principles of modern programming languages in the workshop, dragging and dropping graphic blocks to build geolocation, games, communication, and other apps. The MIT software is also available as a web-based application. To participate, students must bring an Android device with internet access. If necessary, the Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology can supply the device.

Roboter für «4 Gewinnt» programmieren

Program a pick-and-place robot

Space coordinates are an intuitive way to create a programming interface for pick-and-place robots. Angle specifications that serve as a control signal for the servos are crucial for the correct execution of a robot’s movements. In the workshop, students learn to perform the mathematical calculations required to program a pick-and-place robot.

Guest talks for vocational and baccalaureate schools

Experts of the Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology are available for guest talks at vocational and baccalaureate schools. In their presentations, they cover topics ranging from AI and machine learning to Augmented and Virtual Reality to Blockchain, smart contracts, big data, Internet of Things, cyber security and data privacy, to the latest developments within digital transformation.
