In this project, we are investigating a solution for industrial load disaggregation that combines the cost efficiency of a NILM system with the accuracy of classical submetering.
With the predecessor project "NILM@I - NILM for industrial applications", we have already investigated a possible solution for cost-effective analysis using Non-intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) in the industrial sector. NILM enables a load breakdown based on a central performance measurement. The project had shown that the application in industrial plants requires a higher accuracy and better applicability than is possible with classical NILM methods.
In NILMplus, we are now aiming to explore a new approach to load breakdown. Thanks to the combination of NILM algorithms with easy-to-install, low-cost current sensors, this new approach should provide the required accuracy with better applicability.
These current sensors should be able to be attached to a consumer's cable without having to disconnect it from the network and thus provide information about on/off events and load jumps. We expect that this additional information will greatly improve the accuracy of the load breakdown.
