Research and Development Our commitment in the context of sustainability

Are you looking for complementary skills for your team to take your visions and ideas forward? Then look no further: the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture conducts applied research and development in the fields of construction and engineering, thus contributing to the technological progress and advancement of its cooperation partners from business and industry.

Energie und Nachhaltigkeit

Energy and sustainability

Our researchers are convinced that they and their cooperation partners from business and industry can make a decisive contribution to implementing the Swiss Confederation’s Energy Strategy 2050. They promote new technologies, work on the circular economy and examine social conditions.

Gebäude im System

Buildings in a system

The low rate of renewal in the built environment is a latent yet growing challenge that needs to be addressed. Our researchers are passionate about this and consider the aesthetic, technical, economic, legal, social, ecological, political and cultural aspects with a focus on integrated building planning.

Forschung im Bereich Bau

Research in construction

In order to facilitate an integrated approach to transforming the built environment in terms of sustainability and digitisation, research in construction at the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture is broadly positioned in the fields of architecture, interior architecture, civil engineering and building technology.

Forschung im Bereich Technik

Research in engineering

At the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture, research in the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical and energy engineering, innovation and technology management, and medical engineering is both practical and scientific in its approach.

Forschungsdienstleistungen für Dritte

Services for third parties

Thanks to its researchers’ broad range of skills and its state-of-the-art laboratories and certified facilities, the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture works dedicatedly and effectively in the service of its cooperation partners, with a systematic emphasis on interdisciplinary knowledge and technology transfer.

Forschungsanlässe an der Hochschule Luzern – Technik & Architektur

Research events

The researchers at the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture continuously share their in-depth know-how and latest scientific findings with an interested public and hold research events of all sizes at which dialogue and the cultivation of relationships and networks are key features.

Energy Lab

Achieving the energy turnaround is impossible without innovation. This is why the Energy Lab, recently launched under the leadership of the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture, systematically fosters innovation with a high market potential. The Energy Lab is one of the twelve NTN Innovation Boosters authorized by the Swiss Innovation Agency.

Cyber-Human-Parkinson

Contracted by the Hasler Foundation, researchers of the iHomeLab and the University of Bern have jointly developed a cyber-human system to aid medication dosing for Parkinson’s patients (m/f). The data gathered via a sensor network helps to quantify symptoms over the course of the day with precision.

MFH Schlieren

How to sustainably reduce the annual power demand and, with it, CO2 emissions, of two planned apartment buildings in Schlieren (ZH) with a photovoltaic and energy storage system? Researchers at the Institute of Building Technology and Energy have answered this question with an innovative solution.

Cyber-Risiken

The Internet of Things (IoT) is everywhere. But how to reduce the associated risks? Tasked by the Federal Department of Finance with exploring this question, the researchers of the iHomeLab have shown that the current IoT-related cyber risks could be markedly reduced with the introduction of binding standards.
