The topic of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) is currently experiencing a big wave that will affect many areas of life. Medical technology is also affected by this. This is subject to special social rules, which will be adopted as a basis and example for many other areas in the future. For example, the Artificial Intelligence Act (AIA) of the European Union (EU) is based on the MDR, and the FDA in the USA also focuses on medtech. Thus, medical technology is becoming a pioneer for the future of ML and AI.
This project will compare, discuss, analyze and develop new training, testing, verification and validation strategies and corresponding concepts. It will also address issues of continuous versus "frozen" learning, applicability of different types of ML/AI, etc. All this will be implemented on real examples such as the electrocardiogram, cardiopulmonary diagnostics or mammography.
