How has your MSE degree influenced your professional career?
«Pursuing the MSE has certainly given me a much wider range of skills that I can apply in my daily work, be it personal skills or theoretical backgrounds and methodologies. In addition, the contacts I made during the master's thesis helped me in the application process at my current employer.»
What advice do you have for new MSE students?
«With the in-depth projects and the master's thesis, you can deepen your knowledge of topics in your field, so choose the topics carefully. At the same time, try to plan enough time for the module and the course work—the workload was usually higher than in the bachelor's degree.»
What are the most important personal skills of an MSE student?
«Communication and time management were key personal skills for me during my studies.
Even if the projects are often carried out yourself, there is still a lot of communication – be it with your advisor, the industry partner, other students and many more. Being able to communicate your points succinctly can save a lot of time and possible trouble.
Moreover, as the projects are often very time consuming, as is the coursework, time management is important to juggle all the tasks to be completed.»
What's your favorite MSE study memory?
«Passing the last of my modules so that the following semester could be completely devoted to my master's thesis was great. At the same time, Covid restrictions were lifted so that meetings etc. can be attended in presence again.»
In which areas were you able to develop the most through your MSE studies?
«During the two in-depth projects and the master's thesis, I was able to further develop my time and project management abilities, which has been very useful for my professional life.»
