With the 15-meter lighthouse as the focal point of the «Halbinsel» cultural project in Horw, students from the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture have created a striking architectural landmark and a reference point for the project. The video shows how this unique structure was built.

Architecture and Structure Focus – Fall semester 2017

Mixed-generation housing in Milan

The City of Milan intends to implement the project Grande Brera on the area of a former military facility. The Accademia di Brera has long been unable to fulfil its spatial requirements at its historical location in the Brera neighborhood. The art college’s various rented facilities ae distributed throughout the city and should be pooled and reorganized at a single new location. it is also planned to convert the Magenta and Carroccio barracks for this purpose.

Architecture and Energy Focus – Fall semester 2017

Academia Engiadina – Boarding school in the mountains 

In Samedan/GR, a new boarding school should be designed. The students sounded out the possibilities of several known building types – housing, schools, public buildings – in the context of a cool, Alpine climate.

Architecture and Material Focus – Fall semester 2017

Transformation of a small Alpine settlement

The students had to intervene in the settlement of Gspon in the Canton of Wallis regarding to develop a model of living that transfers the ideals of living together in a collective living situation to the preservation of our remote settlement areas. The challenge was to find a contemporary, non-nostalgic, architectural equivalent.
