Energy from Biomass From combustion to system integration

Biomass can be used to generate heat and electricity in a renewable and CO2-neutral way. Together with partners and clients, the Competence Center develops new combustion concepts and derives optimization measures for existing biomass combustion plants, for example to increase efficiency.

Process and Systems Simulation

To achieve optimum burnout quality, combustion processes often involve several stages. With the many years of experience of the experts at the Competence Center, they are also able to model and simulate such processes. Based on the results, measures can be derived, for example, to increase efficiency.

Experimental Study in the Laboratory

Sometimes it is necessary to validate results from CFD simulations experimentally. For this purpose, the Competence Center performs, among other things, experimental investigations in the laboratory using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV).

Field Measurements and Data Analysis

For field measurements on biomass furnaces, the Competence Center relies on measurement systems developed in-house and standardized data analysis procedures. This allows field measurements and subsequent data analysis to be carried out in a time- and cost-efficient manner.

The CC TEVT has developed with the support of the SFOE the user-friendly software for the application of the classical pinch analysis method in the process industries.
