Three new demos of our research in the iHomeLab Visitorcenter Experience what the results of our research bring to everyday life

The exhibition and the staged tour in the iHomeLab Visitor Centre are continuously updated and expanded with results from our research.

In summer 2022, three exciting new Shows have been integrated in the Tour.

The exhibition and the guided tour in the iHomeLab Visitorcenter are constantly updated and expanded with results from our research.

Laser Attacke VC

Attack and manipulation of networked smart speakers

Is it possible to send commands to a networked smart speaker (Google Echo, Amazon Alexa, etc.) from outside with a specifically directed, modulated laser beam and thus, for example, open the garage door or gain access to the building? We have tested it and show the result in our new exhibit "Laser Attack". Wir haben es getestet und zeigen das Ergebnis in unserem neuen Exponat «Laser Attacke».

Laser Attacke

Automatic page-turning system for sheet music

The system, which was developed by two bachelor students of the iHomeLab, uses an eye-tracking camera to automatically turn the pages of sheet music while playing music. The system recognises when the gaze has reached the end of the page and automatically turns to the next page. This eliminates the need for a person to turn the page.

Climateclock

The countdown to achieving the "net zero" climate goals: Climate Clock

A "Climate Clock" is now ticking at the iHomeLab. The Climate Clock combines art, science, technology and citizens' initiatives to get the world to act in time. At the heart of the project is a simple instrument: a clock that counts down the critical window of time to reach zero emissions (the "deadline") while tracking progress on key solution pathways ("lifelines"). The clock shows what needs to be done and by when, putting the spotlight on the critical task of making a rapid and just transition to a secure climate future.
