Demonstation pumps test rig

In the form of an assigment from EnergieSchweiz, a pumps test rig for educational purposes was developed. The following operating conditions and investigations can be performed: 

  • Measurement of the pump characteristics (at various rotational speeds) 
  • Measurement of the system characteristics 
  • Investigations relating to different operation forms (throttling, bypass, rotational speeds) 
  • Measurements of different hydraulic circuits (pumps in parallel/series) 
  • Measurement of pump characteristic with cavitation 
  • Flow analysis with cavitation visualization 
  • Long-term experiments (e.g. cavitation) possible using cooling aggregate 
  • Comparison of wet rotor and dry rotor pumps 
  • Measurement of hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and pump efficiencies 
  • Pump in turbine mode (Pumps As Turbine (PAT)) 

The test rig is used for internal and external training (continuing education) and features universal ports for easy expansion.
