Sensor & Health Technologies Transforming subtle signals into tangible results: highly sensitive sensing and AI analytics for industry, medicine and research.

The Sensor & Health Technologies research group develops highly sensitive sensor systems and novel analysis methods for precision applications in automation and robotics as well as in personalised and digital medicine. By combining advanced sensing, low-noise signal acquisition and AI-based analytics, we create solutions that precisely detect subtle signals and markers and predict critical conditions at an early stage.

• Industry 4.0, automation and robotics: Efficient process monitoring and object recognition to increase the degree of automation and flexibility while reducing errors and scrap.
• Personalised and digital health solutions: More precise solutions for individualised prevention, early detection, diagnosis and therapy of diseases.

Signal processing, including AI-based methods, to separate the signal from noise and to measure the 3D magnetic field. Applications: Failure analysis, current imaging, materials analysis, biomedical diagnostics. Project: NV Diamond Quantum Sensor Magnetometer.

Collaboration and Network

We support technology and knowledge transfer to industry and society. To this end, we work closely and continuously with partners from industry, clinics, universities and research institutions in Switzerland and abroad. As part of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, we benefit from state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure and the expertise of other HSLU research centres. Our projects are funded by national and international funding agencies, as well as through direct contracts.
