Cornelia Gassler's dissertation focuses on the reuse of mineral waste. In it, she develops design approaches that integrate the natural and aesthetic traces of a material’s previous life.
The aim is to investigate the value added by these traces and to challenge how we perceive the aesthetic «flaws» associated with the «not-new».
Design-driven approaches facilitate aesthetic reassessment, and promote sustainable ways of living and a more careful use of resources.
