Facts and figures concerning the admissions procedure 2026/27 for the Foundation Course scheduled to run from early August 2026 to early May 2027 (or until May 2028 for part-time students covering the same course content but over a two-year period).
What is the admissions procedure? The admissions procedure is divided into two parts. In the first part, you are asked to submit your documents, a portfolio and a written assignment on a set theme. In the event of a positive decision, you will receive an invitation to attend an interview and to sit an entrance examination during which you must accomplish one or two creative set tasks within circa 4 hours. Graduates of a secondary school leaving certificate with a focus on visual arts benefit from a shortened admission procedure in the form of an admission interview. This takes place in mid-December. The final decision on admission is made immediately.
On the Info Days held Friday, 21 and Saturday, 22 November 2025, prospective students can learn about bachelor degree programmes at the Lucerne School of Design, Film and Art. The Foundation Course will be present too at Viscosi City 745. Lecturers will be on hand all day long to personally discuss the Foundation Course in Design, Film and Art and the admissions procedure.
Registration deadline is Monday 24 November 2025. Please address inquiries about later registration to Nicole Sandmeier.
