SAS PhD Preparation in the Arts 3 Refining your PhD proposal strategically: positioning, resources, supervision

This SAS programme provides support for the development of a research project in art, design, film or the pedagogy of art and design. Participants gain an overview of the field, refine their personal research interests and draw up an initial research outline to serve as the basis for a doctoral project.

Overview

This Short Advanced Studies course builds on the work done on the PhD proposal (SAS PhD Preparation in the Arts 2) and leads to a version ready for submission. Participants refine their positioning within their research field, develop dissemination strategies and address issues of research ethics as well as resilience strategies for the PhD process. On this basis, participants prepare to make contact with potential supervisors and assess the status of their potential PhD process.

Target audience

This SAS continuing professional development programme is aimed at those with an interest in research in the fields of art, design, film and the pedagogy of art and design who hold a Master’s degree and have already drafted a consolidated version of a PhD proposal.
