Fees and Grants
Tuition fees for incoming exchange students are generally waived for students from partner institutions. Please contact the coordinator at your home university for information on this. Swiss-European Mobility (and Erasmus+) grants are available to students and lecturers from participating partner universities in the EU.
You may also be eligible in your home country for a grant, or be able to organise funding through a corporate sponsor in your home country. Contact your home university or local business association in your home country to enquire about these possibilities.

The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts offers limited possibilities for granting scholarships.

Exams and Credits
Most exams take place during the examination period at the end of the semester. In some modules the final grade is not only based on the final exam, but also on assignments (individual or group), presentations or mid-term tests.

The Lucerne School of Business uses European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits in all degree programmes. Thirty ECTS credits at the Lucerne School of Business are, for example, considered equivalent to 15 North American credits or to 60 UK credits.

It is the coordinator at your home university who decides how your studies in Lucerne will transfer into your degree programme back home. Our Exchange Programme Team will help you obtain the documentation you need to have your credits recognized at home.

Studierende Austausch

Added to this are lasting contacts you can foster with local and international students and the overall intercultural experience. We look forward to welcoming you.

Flyer Exchange Semester in Lucerne

An Exchange Student's View of Lucerne

Need a further argument as to why Lucerne is the place to do your exchange semester? The Lucerne School of Business is situated in the heart of Central Switzerland and is an ideal starting point to discover Lucerne, Switzerland and Europe. Our Living in Lucerne and Campus Life webpages provide useful information about things to do and see in Lucerne and Switzerland, as well as information on the excellent public transport possibilities available to get you there.

Buddy Programme
The Campus Lucerne buddy programme gives exchange students the opportunity to get in contact with local students prior to their arrival. A local student buddy can provide useful information about student life at our University and life in Switzerland. Furthermore, both exchange students and buddies benefit from the cultural exchange involved. The local students volunteer to help incoming exchange students become familiar with student life at the Lucerne School of Business and are a valuable resource for questions about living in Lucerne. Many of the local students are also interested in doing an exchange abroad in the future. Many exchange students and local students have formed long-lasting friendships.

How to apply for an Exchange?

Exchange students from our partner institutions apply for an exchange place at their home university and need to be nominated to the Lucerne School of Business. As soon as the nomination has been accepted, the students receive a link to the online application form.
