The Master of Science in Banking and Finance is now ranked among the best finance degree programmes in the world. The prestigious ranking is published annually by the Financial Times. The ranking is considered an internationally recognised seal of quality.
At the end of September, we were able to present 31 graduates with an MSc in Banking and Finance diploma.
On 30 September 2020, 35 students graduated from our Master of Science in Banking and Finance programme. We congratulate them on their degree!

11. December 2018 | Razije Tairi, a former student from the MSc in Banking and Finance programme, has received the SwissLife Student Award in the category «Master's Recognition Award» for her Master's thesis. In her work she developed trading strategies based on Twitter messages. Below is a brief insight into the Master's thesis.
18. September 2018 | 19 Master of Science in Banking and Finance students received their diplomas in august.
25. June 2018 | Another instructive, varied and interesting MSc Banking & Finance academic year has come to an end. Following on from the first semester highlight of our study trip to London, these academic paper presentations constitute one of the second semester highlights. The papers examined specific questions from an economic viewpoint. The following blog post will briefly introduce some of the group work results.
30. April 2018 | Dr. Stefan Kull teaches Macro Economics and Behavioural Finance in the MSc in Banking and Finance programme. His lectures are regularly awarded excellent reviews by students. How is the MSc in Banking and Finance taught? And how can you design lectures so they are instructive, demanding and exciting at the same time?
24. April 2018 | Marcel Masshardt completed his MSc in Banking and Finance studies in 2013 and is employed as a Senior Analyst by the OLZ AG. In this interview, he looks back on his MSc in Banking and Finance studies and his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) degree course. We also asked him what advice he would give future students.
12. February 2018 | Matthias Ribback has spent a semester studying at the Lingnan University in Hong Kong, to allow him to complete his studies with two degrees simultaneously: The MSc in International Banking and Finance at Lingnan University and the MSc in Banking and Finance at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. His report of what he experienced provides some insights into his stay in Hong Kong. Matthias Ribback is now working as a portfolio manager for Notenstein La Roche.
8. February 2018 | Between 29th and 31st January 2018, 20 Banking and Finance Master study students of the Lucerne School of Business spent exciting days in London. This completed their «Strategic Bank Management”» course, although it was not just the presentation of these students’ seminar papers which took centre stage. They were also able to enjoy numerous talks by external speakers plus several guided tours of various companies and the city. This friendly get-together also left some lasting impressions of this multi-cultural metropolis.
30. November 2017 | As part of a two-day workshop held by ti&m (Technologie, Innovation & Management) in Zurich in November 2017, we as students of the Master of Science in Banking and Finance, designed our own app. Developing this app for use in community banking required know-how, creativity, team work and good time management. As part of the «FinTech and New Business Models» course, this workshop tapped into competencies in an area of banking less known so far.
24. October 2017 | We are augmenting our Master of Science in Banking and Finance with additional options and innovative offers. New courses in Sustainability, Blockchain, Crowdfunding and Analytics cover central contemporary developments in the financial markets.
2. May 2017 | Marc Steiner is founder and CEO of the real estate company immus focussing on home sales and project development. In addition to running a successful business, he is currently completing a Master of Science in Banking and Finance at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Previously, Marc Steiner has successfully completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Major in Real Estate Management at the Lucerne School of Business.
6. April 2017 | Timo Serke is a Senior Consultant at KPMG in the area of Insurance Advisory and at the same time a student in the MSc in Banking and Finance at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. He has several years of work experience in the finance industry, in which he developed core competencies in the fields of business consultancy, project management and M&A.
28. March 2017 | As a part of the course «Strategic Bank Management» the Master of Science in Banking and Finance Candidates enjoyed a study trip to London from the 30th of January until the 1st of February.
