Open Science is part of good scientific practice. Module 1 introduces the core principles and explores what open science means for early-career researchers, academic careers, and research evaluation—enriched by input from guest speakers. Short sessions on ORCID and the legal basics complete the programme.
Publishing Open Access increases the visibility of research. Module 2 offers a practical overview of open access publishing, including funding opportunities, the green route via repositories, and Read & Publish agreements. We will discuss how open access applies to dissertations and how to avoid predatory journals. Participants are invited to bring their own cases. Finally, participants reflect on what the transition to open access means for science communication.
Mastering RDM (research data management) is essential for effective research. All research data generated, collected, or compiled must be handled carefully throughout its lifecycle, i.e. from the analysis of data to its eventual sharing, archiving and reuse. In module 3, participants learn the fundamentals (e.g., data management plan) and in module 4, they delve deeper into RDM. This year, module 4 will focus on submitting your research project to an ethics committee and on the topic of informed consent.
