Biography
Vanessa Zallot studied European Ethnology at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, the University of Belgrade and the Humboldt University of Berlin. Throughout her studies, she has focussed on media and digital anthropology, visual anthropology, queer studies and urban anthropology. She received her Master of Arts in European Ethnology in 2021 from the Humboldt University of Berlin with a thesis on a powercritical approach to the ethnographic method of the video interview and related affordances.
Since 2021, she has been a research associate in the SNSF project ‘Interactive Documentary’ and a doctoral candidate at the Department of Media Studies at the University of Basel. Her dissertation project, which is supervised by Prof. Dr. Ute Holl, deals with the documentary strategies of interactive documentaries.
She is a member of the Digital Anthropology Lab at the University of Tübingen.
