Central Switzerland has an alternative name: Urschweiz – the place where the confederation was forged. At every turn one is reminded of a past that goes back more than 700 years. It would be hard to find a place that is more Swiss than here – this region has everything that made the country so famous around the world.
At the same time, Central Switzerland enjoys an extraordinary range of international links. It is the home of numerous commercial enterprises with international interests – worldwide exports include aircrafts, chocolate, electronics, aerial cableways and pocket knives. The Lake Lucerne Region is also globally renowned as a tourist destination: Lucerne alone chalks up more than one million overnight stays every year by visitors from every corner of the planet.
It is the aim of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts to celebrate both its regional roots and its international links. It endeavours to offer students the best possible opportunities for success in a globalised world of work by maintaining close links with partner universities on a national and international level. The elements in our curriculum are designed to prepare students – both those studying with us and those from our partner institutions, studying towards a degree or towards a continuing education qualification – for a vast range of career trajectories throughout the world.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Dean of International Affairs at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts
