Versatility is the hallmark of our multi-programme Classical profile: Lecturers of international renown teach in the BA and MA programmes, continuing and executive education programmes enhance the musician’s personal profile, researchers explore music and musical practice alike, and our many events showcase music in all its facets to the public!
Our multi-faceted degree programmes in the Classical profile offer a matching curriculum for every prospective student.
We teach focal points that enhance our degree programmes, giving our students the opportunity to look beyond their own instrument and acquire additional artistic skills. On an individual level, the students have a broad range of modules to choose from to complement their core area with content that suits their personal interests and that enhance their personal profile in a meaningful way.

From my experience, I would say that its lecturers are the School’s greatest asset.
They form a highly qualified and internationally renowned faculty, which in turn warrants not only top-quality instruction, but also creates a positive atmosphere in the School, in the individual classes, in the specialisations and in our various ongoing projects. What's more, we are fortunate to have moved into our new building in 2020, which means we are now teaching at a most beautiful location with state-of-the-art facilities and three amazing concert halls. Thanks to our School’s comparatively small size, we can offer individual and personal tuition to our students, which I believe is highly beneficial for young musicians at such a pivotal stage in their career.
I can think of two moments: One, a concert with pianist Piotr Anderszewski, who played a Haydn sonata with such incredible precision, concentration, joy, intimacy, and humour that time simply stood still for me and,
second, a concert with Asaf Avidan, whose play revealed the existential side of music to me in a powerful and compelling way. I experience similar moments during many of our graduation concerts, which are always a treat for me.
The professional prospects vary greatly from programme to programme and from instrument to instrument. Of course, there are the traditional career paths as an orchestra or theatre musician or as a music teacher, but there are many music-adjacent fields for graduates to explore, such as music management, music communication or, for instance, dramatic composition.
However, what we see is that more and more musicians specialise, launch exciting new series of concerts, found festivals, or realise other innovative projects, enriching our cultural lives with their individuality. I really like these tendencies: they provide a uniquely personal way for musicians to reach out to their audience and bring them on board with their music.
To any young person who has a deeply rooted desire to make their music and instrument their day job and cannot conceive of a life without music and without communicating through music.
