Organ Documentation Centre Competence centre for documenting and researching Swiss organ culture

The Organ Documentation Centre at the Lucerne School of Music is a competence centre for documenting and researching Swiss organ culture. Organists, academics and devotees of the organ benefit from an extensive range of publications on organ building and organ music, and from archives, organ arrangements and image material.

Grosse Orgel ODZ

Organ database

The organ database includes historical as well as technical information on Swiss organs and their builders.

Projects

In addition to maintaining its inventory and database of organs in the Canton of Lucerne, the Organ Documentation Centre (ODZ) is engaged in a number of projects including studies on the Welte-Philharmonie organ built in 1926 in Meggenhorn Castle (Canton of Lucerne), on the history of the Bossart organ builder family from Baar (Canton of Zug) and on the history of the organs in the municipality of Lachen (Canton of Schwyz).

Publications

The activities of the ODZ are being documented and summarised in a range of publications. For a list of these publications, visit Marco Brandazza’s profile on the HSLU website.
