LARA Lucerne Audio Recording Analyzer

LARA

The LARA project aims to develop and implement a customised computerised analysis program for researchers interested in musical interpretation and performance.

LARA is able to: 

  1. load, store and edit audio recordings in the most common formats,
  2. conduct an analysis of an audio signal (to start with: tone, pitch and volume) and to display the result,
  3. interpret the result of the analysis with symbols and diagrams, e.g. rhythm diagrams, phonetic transcriptions,
  4. and export the graphics for academic/scientific publication. The design of the Software ensures that: 
  5. the researcher can build a platform to develop new methods of analysis 
  6. the manual clearly explains the program's algorithms, 
  7. the program is user-friendly and intuitive.

LARA represents a major component of the Interpretation and Performance research topic offered by the Lucerne School of Music.
