Peter Hill is one of the leading British pianists and musicologists of his generation. His many recordings of twentieth-century music have received outstanding acclaim and his complete Messiaen cycle, made in collaboration with the composer, has achieved classic status. Recent recordings include Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier and Goldberg Variations.
Writings include a study of «The Rite of Spring» and a ground-breaking biography of «Messiaen», awarded the annual prize for musicology by the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
Peter Hill gives recitals, lectures and mas-terclasses around the world. He holds an honorary professorship at Sheffield University and is a Fellow of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
This four-day masterclass will focus on the piano repertoire from baroque to modern music. Special attention will be given to the «Well-Tempered Clavier» by Johann Sebastian Bach and works by Olivier Messiaen.
Applications are encouraged from pianists that choose to perform a prelude and fugue from the Well-Tempered Clavier as well as one piece by Messiaen.
