Digital data is growing exponentially. To create value from these vast volumes of data, knowledge can be extracted and made understandable and available for decision-making. This process can generate value for businesses and for society.
The researchers at the Lucerne School of Computer Science and Information Technology support and advise partners in business and science. They develop methods, models, processes, systems and software with which Big Data can be managed and analyzed. The work of the researchers starts where conventional solutions reach their limits, for example if the data has a very large volume, is in many different formats or is generated extremely quickly. The researchers support and advise partners with existing and experimental solutions. They test and implement all steps from the raw data right up to the generation of valuable supportive knowledge. To do so, they explore processes and theories from the fields of data management, sensor data, knowledge representation, data analysis and data mining.
