Blockchain technology is considered one of the most promising technologies for the future. While the use of crypto currencies still overshadows other application areas, they are increasingly visible and present in everyday life. The 2019 International Blockchain Forum focused on the social impacts and societal applications of Blockchain technology. In collaboration with our partner countries Great Britain, USA and Canada, we brought together some of the best researchers, most promising start-ups and successful, established companies from across these countries. The event took place at one of Switzerland's leading Blockchain research centers, the Lucerne School of Information Technology in Rotkreuz.
The first of various exciting items of the conference was the Round Table discussion of the Embassies, followed by presentations of cutting-edge research results in the Academic Track. Before heading to lunch, participants had the opportunity to discuss eight specialist topics in the BarCamp. After lunch, a number of start-ups introduced themselves and various established companies reported on their projects. The official part concluded with two Use Case lectures on education and eVoting. At the subsequent drinks reception, participants had another chance to exchange impressions.
