Experimental laboratory tests are made together with students using the Smart Suprex engine test stand. This helps them to develop a solid understanding of combustion engines.
In combustion engines, the chemically bonded energy of the fuel is converted into mechanical energy through combustion. In contrast to other combined heat and power machines, all of the work processes are made in a single area – namely the cylinder. Combustion engines are primarily used in vehicles. The Smart Suprex engine used on the test stand is an example of engine downsizing, where the cubic capacity is reduced yet the same performance as before is achieved thanks to an increase in efficiency.
