The most important machine in the production is an Ultrasonic 20 Linear, 5-axis mill by DMG. Materials from soft to hard-brittle can be machined.
In the context of research projects or service contracts work pieces made of zirconium oxide, aluminum oxide, or glass have been machined directly from the blank to final dimensions using the hard working technique.
The hard working technique applies an ultrasonic oscillation in z-axis direction on top of the rotational movements of the spindle.
Semester studies and the bachelor’s theses are continuously on-going in the fields of hard and HSC machining. As well as the optimization of machining parameters these studies may also be concerned with the production of complex structure like a ceramic watch housing.
As well as the ability to machine the parts, the CC Mechanical Systems possesses the means for precise dimensional verification.
