Quo vadis overhead line?
While always an interesting issue, OHL have over the years tended to become “business as usual”, also suffering from the liberalization of the electricity markets and their partly negative effects on utility investments. Recently though, because of the megatrend towards renewables, there is a big demand for new power transmission corridors, the majority of them overhead. Only in Germany, studies show, that in the next few years there are over 4000 km of 400 kV new lines needed. The big issue with system expansion is that there is a strong opposition from the public to new lines, which results in very long approval processes. The presentation will cover various aspects and solutions of this subject such as:
Electromagnetic fields and health
Uprating of existing lines
Overhead lines and underground cables
17:00 meet and greet
18:20 open discussion
18:45 mix and mingle
