With around 2,000 students pursuing bachelor's and master's degrees and almost 1,000 attending continuing education programs, the School is one of the most in-demand such institutions in Switzerland, the only one which offers the bachelor’s degrees in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Information Technology (from summer 2016 on the Rotkreuz campus), Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Engineering | Innovation, Medical Engineering and Energy Systems Engineering (in English) on the same campus and connects them under the strategic research meta-themes "Building as a System" and "Intelligent Solutions for the Energy Turnaround". At master's level, two degrees are offered, one in Architecture and one in Engineering.
The School's continuing education offer includes a selection of technical and management-related disciplines. Individuals thirsty of knowledge and striving for more competence will find a wide range of possibilities.
The School's research activities are divided into competence centers which work in the two strategic research meta-themes. These focal points find the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture supporting the Swiss Confederation's long-term energy policy (Energy Strategy 2050) and, through its membership of six of the seven Swiss Competence Centers for Energy Research (SCCER), contributing actively to the national "Coordinated Energy Research Switzerland" action plan.
Further accents in research and training are being provided by the thematic platforms "energy@hslu", "light@hslu" and "materiality@hslu". These are interdisciplinary working groups tackling current issues and fostering thematic networking within the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
