The mission of the Competence Centre Mechanical Systems is the holistic and efficient design of mechanical and mechatronic systems with regard to their conception, design, manufacturing, and application.

Our Process Model

Prozessmodell

Climate change, energy provision, automation and digitalisation are major challenges that our society will face in the coming years and decades. The impact on the economy and the industry is enormous. In order for them to remain competitive, answers and new approaches to solutions are needed. The Competence Centre Mechanical Systems is tackling these questions and is ready to realise practical solutions with applied research and development. In doing so, the competence centre focuses on four fields of activity in which it has plenty of experience, know-how and a successful track record. The range of services on offer includes student work and contract research, as well as publicly funded research and services.

Product Development

The focus of the Mechanical Systems Competence Centre is the development of new products and the realisation of innovations. The repertoire ranges from the search for ideas, followed by the design, simulation, and prototyping. Needless to say, that the use of the latest methods and tools is a matter of course for the team.

Production and Manufacturing

The competence centre advances digitalisation in production and manufacturing. Whether it is a matter of new processes (such as additive manufacturing) or optimising process flows, the competence centre's expertise contributes to your success.

Mobile and Industrial Robotics

Robotics and Industry 4.0 are more than just a trend: the range and potential of applications are gigantic. Together with other research units at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, the Mechanical Systems Competence Centre implements sophisticated automated solutions.
