BIOTESC Open day Family day on June 19th, 2026

Dear space friends and enthusiasts

The popular ‘Open Day’ of the BIOTESC space centre is taking place again this year. BIOTESC supports astronauts who carry out experiments for the European Space Agency (ESA) on the International Space Station (ISS). And they do so from Hergiswil. The BIOTESC team cordially invites you to experience its work at first hand. In addition to regular guided tours of the entrances (including the control room), there will be a cosy barbecue on the Universum 9 site from 4 p.m. You are also welcome to bring your family along. The event is suitable for children from first grade upwards. The fire will be provided, please bring your own barbecue food. Drinks can be purchased on site at a reasonable price. Including our special space beer, brewed with space-flown yeast!

How to get here

by train

From Lucerne with the S4 and S5 lines of the Zentralbahn railway, Hergiswil Matt stop. A footpath is signposted from the station to Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

by bus

Hergiswil is not served by buses from Lucerne

by car

From Lucerne: Exit Hergiswil towards the centre, after the motorway bridge at the roundabout take the 1st exit on the right and follow the road to Obermattweg 9, red building with flags.

A limited number of visitor parking spaces are available behind the building. Further parking facilities: Acheri car park (Sonnenbergstrasse), for a fee.
