Sustainability Coloured photovoltaic modules and solar facades

By keeping materials and components in the life circle, reusing them, or replacing them with recyclable alternatives, resources can be conserved, waste can be avoided, and innovative solutions for both existing buildings and new constructions can be developed. 

CCGH+IB supports this transformation by combining expertise in the assessment of the existing building stock and emerging developments with the design of practical, real-world processes that account for stakeholders, technologies, and sustainability targets. ​​

Circular materials and building components

CCGH+IB supports the development of sustainable materials and components. This includes, for example, biogenic materials, innovative material combinations made from secondary materials, and circular construction methods for building envelopes. The aim is to explore sustainable alternatives for new construction and renovation that are ecologically, technically, and architecturally convincing.

In-situ analyses

In order to extend the life of existing building envelope components, it is essential to have in-depth knowledge of their actual condition and functionality. CCGH+IB carries out in-situ analyses to assess the building physics and technical properties of the materials and components. Non-invasive measurement methods are primarily used, which do not interfere with ongoing operations and enable a rapid assessment of maintenance and reuse potential.

Circular process optimizations

In addition to developing technical solutions, CCGH+IB also supports transformation processes for dismantling, reusing, and upgrading existing components in building envelopes. The successful implementation of circular strategies requires new methods, skills, and practical implementation tools. CCGH+IB supports this development and the implementation of circular processes along the entire value chain.

The existing photovoltaic railings of the NEST building will be swapped for colored photovoltaic modules, that incorporate the latest research and results on the subject

The three colored photovoltaic sculptures adorning the garden of Villa-Seerose at the Üserhuus AG headquarter are 2.50 meters tall und 0.50 meters wide.

Photovoltaic modules imprinted with the Cantonal’s coats of arms have been installed on the stair tower of the “Umweltarena” theme park in Spreitenbach.

The facade of printed photovoltaic modules on the “Solaris” residential building «Solaris» in Zurich covers its tenants’the electricity needs of the tenants. The photovoltaic facçade , which emulatesreminiscent of the light reflections onf the lake, generatesproduces an annual 40,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
