As part of the NEPTUNE block week, which took place from 16th to 25th March 2023 on the campus in Horw, thirty students from Finland, Slovenia, Holland, France and Switzerland (Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Engineering and Architecture) developed proposed solutions for mobile sound installations at various locations in Lucerne.
NEPTUNE stands for "Network for Environmental Projects in Technology, UNited in Europe". This year was the 16th edition of the Champion Circle's eight-day international workshop.

Story & Task
Focal point is the interaction between music and town, its ambient noise and their inhabitants. The entire town is going to become a stage.
What does this imply? There will be six sites of makeshift stages spread across the whole town, at the disposal of whoever’s need for a stage. Each location will have a different character. They range from public spaces and squares in quarters of the town to spaces with a touristic character as well as traffic junctions. They all should offer space for spontaneous music. The exact site and design of each stage will be the result of what utilization and potentials the place has. There might be a platform on a roof or in the underground. It is significant to clarify coherence of the realisation as well as logistics. The audience must be able to listen, traffic must not be interrupted, and servicing as well as disposal must be guaranteed. Another point to be considered is the impact of weather. The main aim of the international projects is the co-operation with students from other nationalities and other disciplines.
The interdisciplinary teams were assigned to the following five locations:
- Pilatusplatz: "High traffic density, subject of current urban development"
- Weinmarkt: "Traditional, medieval square, residential and retail uses"
- Bahnhofplatz: "Area in front of the station which is spatially less defined but functions as an area of transit"
- Schwanenplatz: "A place characterised by tourists, bus stops and a shopping hotspot"
- Inseli: "Recreation area, water, lake and mountains are defining features"
