Boadaceia, the Celtic queen who almost succeeded in keeping the Roman invaders out of Britain, is the very personification of a strong, influential woman. Remarkably, she reconciled throughout her lifetime the triple role of queen, warrior and mother. What this one woman achieved in an era shaped predominantly by patriarchal social orders strikes me as nothing less than amazing. She and her civilisation inspired me to create a product-oriented textile collection for self-assertive women.
