“Are you a man or a woman?” Our society thinks in rigid binary patterns. There is little space left for people beyond these categories. In the performance “BURY THE FACE, TURN THE HEEL” binary order and fluid identity wrestle for their place in society. Textile headpieces were created through and for the performance that critically confront gender depictions, abstract them, exaggerate them and steer them outside the customary structures.
The performance was created as a joint work with Luis Stadler, Rahel Hauri, Aline Schüpbach and Gianluca Maruccio.
