Independence in old age is the foundation of quality of life and dignity. However, essential tremor – an involuntary tremor with a frequency of 5 to 12 Hz – forces many people over the age of 65 into social isolation. Everyday pleasures such as sewing, writing, doing crafts or cooking become obstacles. This is where this bachelor’s thesis comes in: the everyday objects designed here use targeted additional weight to stabilise the hand gently but effectively. They physically dampen the low-frequency tremor before it interferes with movement. In this way, the designed objects give those affected back a measure of autonomy – entirely in line with SDG No. 3 on health and well-being at every age.
